back to school
well, today’s officially the first day of class of my 2nd year of anesthesia school! it’s weird to realize that i’ve finished the first year already, and yet i’m SO grateful. i remember being scared out of my mind a year ago at this time, embarking into the journey that would take me into nurse anesthesia. this year should be pretty different though–higher expectations, deeper understanding, more knowledge, less classroom time, much more OR time. bring it on! i’ve enjoyed the learning and the challenges, and i only hope to get better and better.
big yellow monsters are back…
that’s right, school’s starting and the giant school buses are once again taking back the roads! seems like i can’t go anywhere during the week without getting stuck behind one of these things at least once.
other random note–have i mentioned that i really enjoy trying to decorate and be creative at home? it’s humorous to me because i will often change things again even after i’ve created some room or look that i totally wanted to create. for example, i have a small office space downstairs in our house, and it’s painted a muted sage color, dark wood furniture, sheer curtains–exactly what i pictured before setting out to complete the look early last year. however, i’m now ready to repaint and move stuff around–some pieces upstairs, draft in some new organizational stuff. i can be so fickle. so here’s what i hope the office will look like in another couple weeks…

Minneapolis!
so, i spent last week up in minneapolis for a nurse anesthesia conference, and it was fantastic! it was a lot more social activity than i’d had with my classmates and select faculty in the past, and it’s amazing what people say and do when they’re away from home. one thing i know is that i never have been and never plan to ever be drunk (except in the Spirit!).
crabby martini
so, for those who may not otherwise know, i have only recently started drinking alcohol. there were plenty of reasons i held off, too many to get in to in this medium, but it’s been a kinda fun experience. i’ve had all kinds of firsts over the last few months, and this week was no exception. we got together with good friends to celebrate completing my first year of anesthesia school. we were greeted by:
carl, the crab…
and the most amazing chocolate martini ever…
happy pie day!
i know, sounds ridiculous, right? but pie day is a legitimate celebration of sorts in minnesota. and frankly, it sounds better than happy august. who doesn’t love a good piece of pie with a cup of joe?!
i can’t believe it’s already august! i’m in the midst of finals and projects and presentations, and i just wanna poke my eye out with a spoon. yesterday was my last clinical day for a couple weeks though, and it will be a nice reprieve.
